Upload Your Designs: How to Share Your Art with the World

You’ve signed up to sell your artwork on TeeFury! Now it’s time to show off those designs by uploading them via the TeeFury Uploader. Uploading your artwork is quick and easy. Here are all the basics you need to know about the TeeFury Uploader.

First, make sure you are logged into the Artist Dashboard. Click on “Submissions” on the left-hand side navigation menu. This will bring you to the TeeFury Uploader that looks something like this:

TeeFury uploader

Once you’re here, click on the text that reads “Click to upload images”. After clicking “Click to upload images” you will be prompted to select an image from your computer. Make sure your image:

  • Is a transparent .PNG file
  • Is a minimum of 150 DPI and a maximum of 300 DPI
  • Has a canvas size of 1800 x 2400 pixels
  • Does not go over the 15 MB file size maximum

If anything is up with your file, we’ll let you know with a message.

Now it’s time to name your artwork, describe it, and tag it. Here are some helpful tips when deciding on your artwork’s title, description, and tags:

  • Your title should convey the essence of your artwork in a few words. Use keywords that represent the main elements or theme of your artwork.
  • Your description should be descriptive and expand on your artwork’s title. This helps potential customers understand what message you hope your artwork conveys. If appropriate, consider using humor or wordplay to catch the user’s attention.
  • Your tags are the key piece in making sure that your artwork is seen by as many people as possible. Here are some rules to follow for choosing tags:
    • Add a relevant and specific “Primary Tag.” Primary tags are weighted heavily in search. What one word (or phrase) would you absolutely need in order to describe your artwork? That’s your primary tag. For example, if your design features a narwhal and a lava lamp, your primary tag could be “narwhal.”
    • Use 5-10 total tags. “Other Tags” should be other keywords related to the design’s style, content, and theme. Using the narwhal example, some “other” tags might include lava, lamp, lava lamp, marine, sea creatures, 70s, cute.
    • Aim for mostly single word tags, but specific multi-word tags are fine.
    • STOP tagging when you run out of relevant words. More is not always better.
    • Check your spelling. Typos in your tags means your art may not be discovered.
  • Use titles and descriptions that mimic the words customers might search for. For example, if you have a design of a couch potato, “Couch Potato” would be a better title than “Lazy Spud.” Lazy Spud is clever, but customers aren't searching for that term. In your description, you have more room for creativity. Describe the design with 1-2 sentences about what it is and who might like it. For example: “A lazy spud sitting on an old couch. Perfect for the couch potato in your life!”

After you’ve added a title, description, and tags to your artwork it’s time to choose a main color for the products that your artwork will be placed on. Test your artwork against the various colors. The TeeFury Uploader allows you to play around with the various main colors in real time. That way, you can see how your artwork will be displayed on the different products. A good rule of thumb is, if your artwork has black letters then you don’t want to choose black as the main color or any other very dark colors.

Once you select a main color and up to 4 additional colors, it’s time to check the box that certifies the submitted artwork is yours and has not been copied from another artist nor used any form of AI assistance.

After that box is checked, click the “Submit” button and your artwork will be sent into the review queue!
